Exploration & New Ventures

Block 0

The team is responsible for exploration prospect generation and maturation of the Block as well as geophysical acquisition/ processing. The team's mission is to fully evaluate the Block's exploration potential in the next five to seven years by acquiring or reacquiring 3D data over the entire block, by maturing fifteen exploration prospects to the drill-ready stage in the next three to four years, and by drilling four to five exploration wells per year for the next four to five years. Exploration also provides funding and support for Block 0's appraisal and delineation drilling.

Block 14

The team is responsible for Block 14 exploration lead and prospect generation, prospect maturation, supporting petroleum system studies, documentation of prospect resource and risk and maintenance of a Block-wide lead and prospect portfolio. Other activities include exploration and appraisal well planning and execution, post-drill look-backs and resource estimation in conjunction with RAM and RAC teams. The Team also identifies and plans reprocessing of 3D seismic surveys to assist lead and prospect generation.

New Ventures

The SASBU New Ventures Group is located on the 38th floor at 1400 Smith Street. The group's primary responsibility is the technical and economic evaluation of new opportunities within the Business Unit and OPCO scope spanning all of sub-Saharan Africa.

Key activities include farm-in and license round evaluations and the purchase and acquisition of new seismic and geologic data.

The Team liaises directly with CALAEP and GENV.
