Strategy And New Field Development

Block 0

The Block 0 New Field Development (NFD) group is located on the 38th floor in the 1400 Smith Street building. The team manages the CPDEP Phase 1 and 2 development feasibility assessments for discovered non-producing fields, as well as existing field redevelopment opportunities where the CAPEX required exceeds $100MM Chevron share. The NFD group also provides subsurface support to all major capital projects in Phase 3 and is closely integrated with the Block 0 Exploration group.

The NFD team's mission is to "Move Resources to Reserves" by defining economic opportunities for development of new fields or redevelopment of existing fields via the addition of new infrastructure. The group has been a significant contributor to the maturation of the current queue of Major Capital Projects (South N'Dola, Mafumeria Sul and GVLA) and is now focused on feasibility assessments for the next generation of projects beyond these, including Lifua, Minzu and the Kambala and Malongo North redevelopments. Ongoing portfolio assessments, technical screening work and exploration success will continue to drive the team's project inventory in future years.

Block 14 and Lianzi Unit

Block 14 New Field Development team is located on the 34th floor of 1400 Smith Street and is focused on Block 14 and Lianzi Unit development projects. The team conducts appraisal planning and development feasibility studies of discovered fields in CPDEP Phases 1 and 2 and also provides continuing subsurface support to Major Capital Projects (MCP), which currently include Lucapa, Malange, and Lianzi.

Ongoing Portfolio Projects include Gabela, Negage and South Congo Canyon. For the Block 14 projects, CABGOC is the operator for the Contractor Group and has a 31 percent interest. In the case of the Lianzi MCP, Chevron Overseas (Congo) Limited (COCL) is the operator of the Lianzi Unit – a unit formed to manage the development of deepwater fields shared between Angola's Block 14 and Congo's Haute Mer Contractor Groups. The Lianzi Development Project was sanctioned in 2012.
