Major Capital Projects

Once a project has been matured by the New Field Development (NFD) group to the middle of Phase 2 of the CPDEP process, it will then be designated as a Major Capital Project (MCP) if the Chevron share of the development is expected to be $25 million or greater. The Project will already have a Project Manager by this stage and other resources will be added to complete the activities required for the Phase 3 gate decision.

In Phase 3, the project teams are typically located in Chevron's downtown Houston offices or at the office of the Contractor where front end engineering and design (FEED) is being performed. During Phase 4, the core project team often remains in Houston. There are also typically project representatives at the main engineering and fabrication sites as well as on-site in Malongo once construction, installation and hook-up activities commence.
