Block 0
Block 0 Operations
Chevron operates and has a 39.2 percent interest in Block 0. In 2012, the offshore concession produced its 4 billionth barrel of crude oil. Block 0 is divided into Areas A and B. Together they contain 21 fields that produced a net daily average of 87,000 barrels of liquids in 2014. Area A consists of 15 producing fields with net daily production of 53,000 barrels of crude oil and 2,000 barrels of liquefied petroleum gas. Area B has six fields that produced a net average of 28,000 barrels of crude oil and condensate and 4,000 barrels of liquefied petroleum gas per day in 2014.
Since 1968, the Cabinda Association has produced 1.7 billion barrels of oil from Area A, Block 0, Cabinda, Angola. The resource base of 11 billion barrels OOIP is distributed within 16 offshore fields and 44 reservoirs. Based on the success of secondary recovery projects at the Takula/ Numbi (1990-91), N'Sano (1994), and Kungulo (1996) fields, with potential incremental proved, probable and possible reserves of 500 MMSTB. The development of new water flood opportunities will require capital investments of approximately 1 billion USD for new platforms, wells, and facilities over the next decade Accelerated development of the remaining water flood opportunities presents a variety of technical and project management challenges. Leveraging reservoir management lessons learned from the existing water floods is critical to the success of the expansion effort.
